The EmVision window is divided into three areas:

EmVision supports up to four simultaneous windows. The first window is the Primary window and hosts the Workspace Explorer. Secondary windows share the same log data but can show different page layouts.
Use File → Create Window to open additional windows. Each window maintains its own pane layout and page selection.
No separate licence activation is required for offline log analysis. Network features such as log download need the PC to reach the display or ECU on the LAN.

Click a plot to place the cursor. Use arrow keys to pan; hold Ctrl for faster movement.

File → Export Log (requires an open reference log)
Export writes selected channels from the reference log to a file on disk. Comparison overlays are not included.

When the dialog opens, no channels are selected. Choose what to export:
Only channels available on the reference log appear in the list. Math channels computed in EmVision may not be listed for export — export native log channels, or re-create derived values after import if needed.
A progress bar shows status. On success the dialog shows Export complete. Failures show an error message (for example if the destination is not writable).

Open a log via File → Open Log or by dragging a file into EmVision. The default folder is remembered between sessions.
The Log Explorer tab in the left drawer lists all open log files and their laps.
Each lap row provides controls for comparison:

Only one lap can be the reference at a time. Up to two additional laps can be overlaid for comparison. Overlay data appears in contrasting colours on plots.
Align comparison laps with the reference so features line up at a common point (for example start/finish):

In-laps and out-laps can be set as reference or comparison the same way as flying laps.
The coloured icons in the title bar provide quick access to the reference and overlay sections currently loaded. Lap markers use primary blue for the reference, with distinct colours for comparison 1 and 2.
File → Log Download connects to an Emtron display (or compatible unit) on the network and lists logs available for download.
Downloaded .elo files can then be opened directly in EmVision. The PC must reach the display on the network (typical mDNS/hostname or configured unit URL).
To write the reference log to CSV or Emtron log format, see Export Log.
File → Import Track File loads a .geojson track outline for use with the Track Map plot. Imported tracks appear in Settings → Track Map.
A workspace is a saved layout of pages, plot panes, and floating gauges. Workspaces let you switch between different analysis setups without reconfiguring plots each time.

Each workspace remembers its pane layout, open pages, plot configurations, and floating gauge positions.
A page is a saved collection of plots within a workspace. Pages are the tabs shown across the top of each plot pane.
The Page Explorer tab in the left drawer shows all saved page files. Pages are stored as individual files that can be shared between workspaces.

The Navigator Channel is configured under Settings → General (not per page). It drives the bottom navigator strip and helps you follow a signal during playback.
EmVision supports 1 to 4 plot panes arranged in a grid. Cycle pane count with the toolbar button or Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+4.
Each pane is independent — it can show different pages and plot configurations. Ctrl+Page Up / Ctrl+Page Down moves focus between panes.
Ctrl+` toggles an auxiliary page area above the main pane grid. This provides an additional full-width plot row, useful for a dedicated track map or lap matrix above your channel plots.
Resize the auxiliary split by dragging the divider. The split ratio is saved per workspace.
EmVision supports six plot types. Select the type in Layout Editor mode, from the plot’s context menu, or when creating a new plot pane.
For line and scatter plots:
The primary analysis plot. Displays one or more channels against time or distance on the X-axis.
Drag any channel from the right-hand Measurements list onto a line plot to plot it. No need to open the channel setup dialog first.

On the Events tab, Show all events draws every event in the log without picking them one by one. When it is on, the individual event list is disabled. Uncheck it to choose a specific subset of events.

Vehicle dimensions are set in Settings. Import tracks via File → Import Track File (see Opening Logs). Creating GeoJSON maps is covered under Creating a Track Map.

This plot reads directly from the log’s lap timing data — no additional configuration is required.

Open the Lap Matrix settings from the toolbar button within the plot to add channels and configure colour bands.
Click the pencil icon in the title bar toolbar to enter full layout editing. While editing:
Click the pencil icon again to finish editing.
You can also right-click a plot panel and change its type, split it, or delete it without entering full layout edit mode. Use Settings on that menu for channel/setup dialogs on line and scatter plots (same as the plot pencil control).
Each plot cell has a dropdown (or context menu) to select its type:
Changing the type replaces the current plot content. Channel assignments from the previous type are not carried over.
The layout editor overlay shows directional buttons around a central circle:

Splits can be nested to create complex multi-plot layouts within a single page. Drag the split dividers to adjust relative sizes — split ratios are saved with the page.
The Navigator Channel is set once under Settings → General. It drives the bottom navigator strip and cursor preview during playback — it is not configured per page.
Each plot has a maximise button in its corner to expand it to fill the entire pane. Click again to restore the multi-plot layout.
Click on any plot to position the cursor at that point. The cursor reads channel values at the selected time or distance and displays them in the Measurements panel.

Scroll and zoom behaviour is configured in Settings → Navigation.
Press D to toggle dual cursor mode. Two cursors appear on plots:

In dual cursor mode, the Measurements panel shows values at both cursor positions and the delta between them. This is useful for comparing channel values at two points in a lap.
When aligning overlay laps, ’ (apostrophe) adjusts the overlay offset by the difference between the two cursors.
The Measurements panel is the right-hand drawer (F8 to toggle). It shows:
Channel values update in real time as the cursor moves. Click a channel in the measurements list to highlight it on plots.
Drag channels onto plots. From the Measurements list on the right, drag a channel onto a line plot (or other compatible plot) to add it. You do not need to open plot setup first.
Press F9 or click the time/distance icon in the toolbar to switch the X-axis:

Distance mode is essential for drag strip analysis and distance-based channel comparison. If the log contains no distance data, distance mode and drag tools are unavailable.
File → Maths (or F6)
Math channels compute new channel values from existing log data. EmVision uses the same emexpr expression language as Display Studio. Expressions are re-evaluated over the open log when you apply changes in the maths dialog.

That page is written for real-time evaluation on the display (100 Hz continuous or on-event). In EmVision the same expression language is applied offline to logged samples. Prefer the syntax and function reference there; evaluation timing and display-only setup fields (Continuous / On Event, reset events) apply on the vehicle, not when analysing a log.
A warning indicator appears on groups or expressions that fail to compile. Fix the expression text and re-apply.

File → User Channels
User channels and user events in EmVision are client-side definitions stored with the application configuration. They let you name and style custom channels for maths, plots, and display — separate from channels that were recorded inside a log file.

Display Studio’s setup guide is still useful for the general idea of custom channels — see User Channels (Display Studio). EmVision uses a separate ID range for client user channels so they do not collide with custom channels already stored inside a log file.

The mode button in the title bar controls how EmVision interprets race milestones and distance markers:

Click the button to cycle through modes. Use forced modes when auto-detection picks the wrong type for your log.
Configure the speed channels used for distance integration in Settings:

The Tools menu provides drag strip analysis functions. These place distance markers (60 ft, 330 ft, 660 ft, 1320 ft, etc.) on the log timeline.
Tools → Generate drag distance markers from cursor
Places markers at standard drag strip distances, calculated forward from the current cursor position using the drag speed channel.
Tools → Generate drag distance markers from trigger channel
Automatically places markers when the configured trigger channel meets its threshold — useful for batch-processing multiple runs in a single log.
Tools → Clear drag distance markers on selected section
Removes all drag distance markers from the currently selected log section (reference or overlay).
Note: Drag tools require distance data in the log. If the log has no distance channel, the Tools menu items are disabled.
File → Session Constants
Session Constants show vehicle setup values from the open log (weight, spring rates, and similar) and let you override them for maths “what-if” analysis. Overrides are saved with the log.
Workspace → Add Floating Gauge
Floating gauges are draggable, resizable gauge overlays that sit above all plot content. They show a channel value at the current cursor position and persist within the workspace.

Floating gauges are useful for keeping a speed, RPM, or pressure readout visible while working with detailed line plots.

Increase Scroll Boost and Zoom Boost for faster navigation through long logs. Increase Debounce if arrow keys feel too sensitive on the first press.

EmStream is the PC application for receiving live telemetry data from Emtron displays. It subscribes to the telemetry stream published by an ED7 or ED10 display and presents real-time channel values, plots, and track position. EmStream also supports voice communications and text chat when licensed on the vehicle.

Before using EmStream, the vehicle display must be configured and activated for telemetry:

Download and install EmStream via EmUpdater.
Telemetry must be licensed and configured on the display before EmStream can connect. Complete these steps on the vehicle side first:

The toolbar shows Telemetry Connected with your username and the current data rate when the connection succeeds.
To avoid re-entering credentials for frequently monitored vehicles:
Saved vehicles appear in the dropdown on the Connection Settings, Voice Settings, and Text Chat Settings pages.
Voice and text require separate connections:
Voice is supported on ED7M and ED10M. Text is supported on ED7, ED7M, and ED10M.

Connection settings control how EmStream connects to the telemetry data server to receive live channel values from the vehicle.

These credentials must match those configured in Display Studio under File → Telemetry Credentials on the display.
Click Connect to authenticate and begin receiving data. The toolbar shows the connection status, username, and data rate in kbit/s.
Use File → Disconnect or the Disconnect button in the settings dialog to end the session.
File → Manage Saved Vehicles stores vehicle name and password pairs locally on your PC. Credentials are saved in the Saved Vehicles list and appear in the dropdown on all connection dialogs.
Select a saved vehicle to populate the name and password fields. Click a list entry to edit, or use Delete Selected to remove it.

EmStream supports six view layouts for the main content area. Each layout presents telemetry data differently. The active layout applies to the current window.

Split layouts remember their divider position between sessions.
View → Window Count opens 1 to 4 simultaneous EmStream windows. Each window can use a different layout type independently — for example, one window showing the track map and another showing plots.
All windows share the same telemetry connection and receive the same live data.
Configure the channels and appearance for each layout using the setup dialogs — the pencil icon on Grid and Plots views opens the relevant setup page.
The Grid view displays channel values in a layout of numerical gauges. Use it for at-a-glance monitoring of key parameters.
Grids are organised in three levels:

The Plots view displays scrolling time-history plots of selected channels. Data is buffered locally by the Data Logger and plotted in real time.

Plots scroll automatically as new data arrives. When logging is paused, use the toolbar controls to scroll back through buffered history.
When using Plot + Plot or Plot + Grid view types, each side has independent group and page tabs. The secondary plot area uses a separate tab index, so you can show different channel sets side by side.

The Track view shows the vehicle’s GPS position on a map in real time. It is useful for monitoring on-track position during a session.
The track map reads GPS and vehicle channels from the telemetry stream:
Vehicle position updates as GPS data arrives. The map auto-scales to fit the track or follows the vehicle depending on zoom mode.
Load a track background from View → Set Track File:

GPX and GeoJSON are mutually exclusive — loading one clears the other.

Toggle View → Connect Waypoints to draw lines between GPX waypoints.
Track + Grid shows the track map alongside a data grid. Drag the split divider to adjust the relative sizes. The divider position is saved between sessions.
EmStream buffers all incoming telemetry data in a local data logger. The logger runs continuously while connected and feeds the plot views. Use the logger menu to control recording and export data for later analysis.

When paused, incoming data stops being appended to the buffer. Plots stop scrolling and you can review historical data. When resumed, logging continues from the current point.
Logger → Set Default Window (ms) sets the default time span visible on plots when paused. Enter the duration in milliseconds — for example, 30000 for a 30-second window.
Logger → Clear Logged Data erases the entire buffer. This cannot be undone. The logger must be paused first.

All save and load operations require the logger to be paused. The default save folder is remembered between sessions.
Saved .dlf files can be reviewed in EmStream without an active telemetry connection.
The Live Data drawer on the right side of the window shows all channel values and events from the telemetry stream.
The upper section lists every channel currently being received, with its live value and units. Values update continuously while connected.

The lower section shows recent system events as they arrive — engine start, lap beacons, alarm triggers, and similar discrete signals.
Channel display units and decimal places are configured in the Live Data setup. Open the channels configuration to adjust how values are formatted.
Preferences apply to EmStream only and do not affect the display or log files. This allows team members in different regions to view the same telemetry stream in their preferred units.
Drag the drawer edge to resize. The drawer can be collapsed entirely — the width and open/closed state are saved between sessions.

Voice communications let you talk with other users connected to the same vehicle session. Voice is supported on ED7M and ED10M displays with an active voice license.
Device-side setup is in Display Studio under Functions → Voice Comms — see Voice Service.

Click Connect to join the voice session. The toolbar microphone icon turns green when voice activity is detected.
Push-to-Talk (PTT) mode requires holding a key to transmit:

Click Rebind and press a key to change the PTT binding. PTT settings can only be changed while disconnected.
When PTT is disabled, voice uses automatic voice activity detection — the microphone transmits when you speak.

Lower priority numbers win when multiple users speak simultaneously. A user with priority 0 can interrupt a user with priority 5. Set your priority to match your role — for example, the driver might use a lower number than a pit lane engineer.
The display-side Broadcast Priority setting in Display Studio should be configured to complement EmStream priorities.

Text chat provides real-time messaging with other users connected to the same vehicle. Text is supported on ED7, ED7M, and ED10M displays with an active text license.

The chat window floats above the main view and can be dragged to any position. It shows message history and a text input for sending messages.
Messages are delivered in real time to all connected users on the same vehicle — including users on the display, other EmStream instances, and the web interface.
The display can be configured to send automatic quick messages triggered by events (for example, “Pit now” when a condition is met). These appear in the chat history like any other message. Quick message configuration is on the display in Display Studio.
